Francisco, Director of Capana Group, has a strong background in architecture and sustainable design. He specialises in Low Carbon Design and Sustainability for the Built Environment and led the development of LCAlink, a tool designed to advance sustainability practices in the industry.
Francisco also lectures in Environmental Design and Architectural Ecologies at the University of Auckland and AUT. In 2024, he was recognised as an Emerging Leader by the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC).Styles.

“What gets measured, gets managed”
Capana Group was founded in Aotearoa on Waiheke Island, sparked by a thesis written by founder Francisco Carbajal. The thesis explored how to integrate Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) into architectural practice, building on the early architectural projects that Capana Group undertook.
Alongside our project work, our passion for sustainability and innovation lead to the development of LCAlink, a freely available data collecting tool that helps bridge the gap between design and carbon analysis.
What began as an individual inquiry has since grown into a collective pursuit, with Capana Group becoming a passionate team dedicated to improving the way we design and build. We’ve worked on a wide range of inspiring projects, from residential homes to commercial developments, bringing sustainability to the forefront through design, research and consulting.
At Capana Group, we believe meaningful change starts with understanding and measurement. Our story is one of continuous learning, pushing boundaries and expanding what’s possible in design and construction. As we look ahead, we’re excited to keep partnering with forward-thinking clients to shape a built environment rooted in knowledge, transparency, and lasting impact.
